Fly-by NUNES Ltd (UK) along with our key partner Global Aviation Specialists (UK), has successfully completed a comprehensive aeronautical study for the Diaz Wind Farm development in Lüderitz, Namibia.

Commissioned for our aeronautical expertise by French renewable energy company InnoVent S.A.S., we’re proud to add this project to our growing portfolio.

The Diaz Wind Farm is on Track for 2025 Completion

Currently under construction, and with the study now complete and approved, Diaz Wind Farm is scheduled to be fully commissioned in July 2025. Consisting of 11 wind turbine generators (WTGs), this new, crucial wind farm will provide a total capacity of 44 megawatts (MW). An important step forward for the country.

A Partnership for Success

Diaz Wind Farm plays a key part in Namibia's National Renewable Energy Plan. So it was essential that the right partners were involved.

InnoVent specialises in the installation and operation of wind and solar farms across France and Africa. Fly-by NUNES is a highly experienced Instrument Flight Procedure Design Service Provider (IFPDSP) and we work closely with our trusted partner and Air Traffic Management (ATM) consultancy, Global Aviation Specialists Ltd.

What this Comprehensive Aeronautical Study Involved

As a summary breakdown, the study encompassed:

▶ Assessment of Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP) at Lüderitz Aerodrome

▶ Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS) assessment for Lüderitz Aerodrome

▶ Hazard identification and risk assessment study

▶ Operational impact study

▶ Stakeholder consultation workshops

▶ High-level wind farm turbulence assessment

▶ Final presentation to the Namibian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA)

Fully Endorsed and Approved

The study received full endorsement from the Namibian National Airspace Committee in August 2023, followed by a third-party verification process and final approval from the Namibian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), granted in December 2023.

Reflection
